Strawberry Basil Ice Cream Topping recipe
The basil and balsamic adds a twist to traditional strawberry topping. The basil is fresh and herbaceous like mint, it also freshens breath like mint too.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 2 1/2 tablespoons honey
- 1 1/4 cups balsamic vinegar
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves, torn into small pieces
- 10 cups strawberries, stems removed and halved
- 1 pint vanilla ice cream
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl stir together the sugar, honey and balsamic.
Toss in the strawberries and basil.
Refrigerate for 10 minutes or up to 2 hours.
Place 1 cup of the mixture into the bottom of a bowl and top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Garnish with a sprig of fresh basil.
